Hello all!

Here's some cool things I saw over the weekend in Men's fashion. Right now a friend of mine asked me to style him for an event he's going to and he's basing his whole look off of his new sneakers, Nike Pewter Foamposites. So while i'm thinking of ideas for that it inspired me to do post on celebs and what sneakers they're wearing recently. So here's some cool photos I found of celebs over the weekend.

The dress had a assymetric design, covered in sequins. She completed the looks with perfectly matching sparkly shoes. She looks fabulous! I especially love how her hair is pulled back and simple make up with a red lip.

So I was flipping through this month's Lucky magazine and I saw the new ad campaign for H&M. (top right photo) I almost had to do a double take because I realized it was supermodel Gisele Bundchen. I was really suprised to see this because she is normally seen on more of the high-end side of fashion. I'm loving all of these 70s inspired looks I'm seeing for spring especially this bandeau top jumpsuit! Now maybe I can attempt to look as "haute" in it as this Brazilian bombshell does lol *reaches for purse and rushes to H&M*

Tons of events were going on in Los Angeles for the NBA All-star weekend. Celebrities were spotted in the city showing off their best "start style". Here are some of my fashion favorites from NBA All-Star weekend. Elyse Neal was spotted at Brandy and Shaunie O'Neal's charity shopping event in Beverly Hills. I love those over the knee boots and ruffle detail on her blazer.

Eva and Flo Rida decided to stop by to do some shopping as well at Brandy and Shaunie O'Neal's charity shopping event in Beverly Hills.

Beyonce and Jay-Z court side at the NBA All-star game. I love, love, love her Christian Louboutin Daffodile platform pumps. Hmmm...I wonder who they were routing for...(Go West!)

Black History Month with Style Society: Eunice Johnson

When I think about black women who are trailblazers in fashion there is one person that always comes to mind, Eunice Johnson. Producer and director of the world's largest traveling fashion show, Eunice Johnson broke style barriers for blacks everywhere with the Ebony Fashion Fair creating a new couture runway for our community.

The Fashion Fair flourished into an annual show, bringing designs from New York, Paris and Milan, where she traveled herself to persuade designers to include their collections in her shows."She was the pioneer who created the awareness to designers that not only should we be in your shows, but can be in your clothes." says celebrity stylist June Ambrose.

"She exposed Black Americans to a world they would not have seen without Ebony Fashion Fair at the time. It was a chance to see what was happening outside of the United States because they showcased a lot of Italian and French fashion..." - Stephen Burrows.

Eunice Johnson died at age 93 on January 3, 2010 and was honored at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art for her work in fashion. Her legacy as a fashion pioneer and the runway she paved that unites all people in fashion will never be forgotten.

Celeb Style: 53rd Annual Grammy Awards

What better way to spend the eve of Valentine's Day than parked in front of your 42 inch flat screen with home theater and the Grammy's blasting through. All types of musicians, actors and celebrities show up to the red carpet with some of the most interesting ensembles I've ever seen. Grand entrances like Lady Gaga's and crazy "out of the box" outfits worn by Nicki Minaj can definitely over shadow the debonair men and chic women who grace the red carpet. So...here are a few of my favorites from last night's awards.

First up, Miss Selena Gomez looking very grown-up in her J Mendel gown. I love her choice of color and her wavy hair.

Amber Reilly from Glee looks gorgeous in Ema Savahl dress. I think short is the way to go for the Grammy's the embellishment on her dress were hand painted. Love it!

Another short dress that I loved was Eva Longoria's Ashi dress. The ruffle design is what drew my attention to this dress. It's also nice to see Ms. Longoria is something short for once.

Raphael Saadiq looked very polished at the Grammys. I wasn't able to find who exactly he was wearing. Absolutely love the design on his jacket.

The newest "Idol judge" looks fabulous in her mini Pucci dress and mirrored Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps.

Drake along with his mother look very nice. The all black is very chic but I would love to see Drake play around with a splash of color every now and then.

I really wish I could have found a picture of Tyga by himself. He absolutely surprised me with his red carpet look. The white dinner jacket is by far my favorite formal look for men. He gets an A- from me. Only because his pants seemed like they were sagging. But he should definitely share someone of his style with his counterparts. :-)

"So my best friend from college is getting married and she has asked me to be the Maid of Honor ( Woo hoo) and now she has asked me to help pick the bridesmaid dresses. She wants me to give her some suggestions. She wants the dresses to be violet (purple) and she is leaning toward a short dress or cocktail style but she isn't sure yet.So I thought I go to the style society and see what you had to say about some of the dresses I found before I give my suggestions to the Bride to be."

Here are the dresses that I chose out of the ones she showed me. I told her short bridesmaid dresses were a great idea and I also love that she chose violet for a summer wedding because its atypical.

Black History Month with Style Society

Today is the first day of February and this month is not only the month for love but it is Black History Month. I wanted to do something special this year to celebrate.

This week I would like to feature Naomi Sims. A true trailblazer of the catwalk, she was the first black model to be on the cover of Ladie's Home Journal in 1968. In her attempt to break through the barriers of racism in here career she decided to sidestep modeling agencies all together. Sims sought out fashion photographers and negotiated ways to work with them directly to give herself the exposure she needed. Gosta Peterson, photographer for the New York Times, agreed to photograph her for the cover of the paper's 1967 fashion supplement.

With the help of former model Wilhelmina Cooper, who was starting her own modeling agency, Sims was able to get more work. Cooper would send out copies of the New York Times supplement, with Sims contact information attached, to different advertising agencies. Soon after Sims achieved worldwide recognition as a model covering prestigious fashion magazines. This was all during the time of the "Black is Beautiful" movement which eventually helped pave the way for other black fashion models in the 1970s like Pat Cleveland and Beverly Johnson.

In 1973 Sims retired from modeling and started her own wig line that eventually expanded into a mulitmillion-dollar beauty empire. Naomi Sims died in 2009 losing her battle to breast cancer. She is truly missed.

So I spotted this Prada Spring 2011 video ad campaign on one of my new favorite magazines, The Fader, in their online style section. I love the bold patterns and the use of color in the collection. And being a dancer myself, I can't help but love how they incorporated dancing into the campaign. I really enjoyed the music choice as well. So I hope you enjoy!!

Weekend Fun: ATLANTA

I got a chance to spend my weekend in Atlanta this weekend. I wasn't really in a mood to party or go out most of the weekend but I did get a chance to see some fun, cool, and interesting places in Atlanta. So Friday I spent most of the day in the airport. I touched down in ATL around 3 p.m. and just took some time to unwind. Later that night I went to dinner in Little 5 Points at a restaurant called The Porter. They have the bar area where you can choose from many different draft beers and they have a pretty good wine selection, but they also have a great food. My favorite part was dessert, an apple beignet served a la mode. yum...

Saturday I went to enjoy the World of Coca-Cola in downtown ATL and spent the remainder of the day shopping. Little 5 Points has a great selection of vintage stores and thrift stores. I found a really nice Michael Kors sweater in one of the vintage stores!! I also went to a clothing boutique called Wish they have a great sneaker selection on their bottom floor. After leaving Little 5 Points I spent the remainder of the afternoon at the mall. Most of the retail stores were having great sales. They're clearing out all of the winter apparel to get ready for spring.

Sunday I went to brunch at Thumbs Up Diner and went on a tour at the CNN Global Headquarters. Unfortunately I was not able to take any photos while on the tour. But it was definitely very interesting. If you ever get a chance to come to ATL you should check it out.

Menswear inspired looks on women have always been a personal favorite of mine. Tuxedo jackets are fun and it gives you a chance to do something a little different. They are functional just like any other classic blazer that can be worn with almost anything. Tuxedo jackets are definitely a good way to dress up your jeans. You can make it look casual like Christina Milian did pictured below while she was out to lunch or you can use them to dress up your look if you're going from day to evening. Weekend Fun: NYC EDITION!!!

Hello all! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. I know it's been a little while since my last post, I went on a mini vacation to celebrate the holidays and my birthday!! I have some photos from my vacation to share with you. While I was in New York City I did so much. I really would have liked to take more photos but I was having too much fun!

Here's a list of 10 Things I learned in NYC:

1. The BEST house parites are in Harlem

2. If you want to go to a nice club go to the "Meat Packing District"

3. I haven't mastered the art of flagging down a cab lol

4. The tastiest restaurants are located on or near 5th Ave.

5. The Flagship Macy's is heaven for shoe addicts (2 whole floors of all shoes)

6. Melba's has the BEST soul food in Harlem, matter of face in all of New York City!

7. Taking the New York metro can be fun and scary all at the same time

8. If shopping for cool clothes go to SOHO or The Village (Greenwich Village)

9. I've know everything there is to know about the Bronx and the names/ nicknames for the bridges in NYC. (Thanks to Camille, pictured in the Black and White striped dress below)

10. I LOVE NY!!!!

I chose Lance Gross for this week's look. This is him at the Inaugural Joy to the World Fest, Black Tie Gala in Philadelphia, PA. I love how he paired his charcoal grey peacoat with his suit which is the same color. Very well put together! I would have chose a different color for my tie to add some color, but over all a great look!

So I was doing some reading and I saw that a new movie called Black Swan is being released in theaters today. It's a thriller film about the relationship between a professional ballet dancer and her rival. Lately a lot of things in fashion have been inspired by this film. My Thanksgiving

Well I had a very busy weekend. For starters we went to have Thanksgiving Dinner at my grandmother's house. Dinner was yummy as usual. I got a chance to play the new Wii game "Just Dance II" which was really fun but also very tiring. I also got a haircut. Well I have bangs now. ( You will be able to see below) I didn't partake in any Black Friday Shopping but I did find a nice tweed coat at macys.com today. On Saturday my younger sister participated in a cotillion along with 20 other debutantes. It was absolutely beautiful. And then to wrap things up I went to Brunch with one of my friends at Gertrude's located in the Baltimore Museum of Art. We also got a change to experience the Andy Warhol Exhibit located in the BMA. So overall a great holiday weekend.

So if you didn't know already, today is "Cyber Monday." This day was established about 5 years ago as the unofficial kick off to holiday shopping. It's always the Monday following Thanksgiving. The deals are just as good as Black Friday and you don't have to deal with all of the chaos and aggressive Black Friday shoppers. Plenty off stores have great deals such as Apple, Levi's, Forever 21, Lord & Taylor, DSW and Sephora, just to name a few. So are you going to do any Cyber Monday shopping today?? TREND REPORT: TURBANS

Everyone knows super stylist June Ambrose for her beloved turbans. And lately the head wrap has been making appearances on many different celebs, red carpets, runways and fashionistas everywhere. The trend dates back to Hollywood during the 1920s and 30s where actresses such as Joan Crawford were seen wearing them. The turban is definitely making a bold fashion statement and cannot be pulled of by most but, I love the look. Other than the lovely Ms. Ambrose I have seen celebrities such as Solange and Chrisette Michele wearing them and they have been seen on the runways during Milan fashion week in the Giorgio Armani show. What she wore: Oscar de la Renta midnight blue gown with multi-color diamond Lorraine Schwartz necklace and satin Swarovski clutch.

Definitely my favorite gown of the evening. The Navy Blue compliments her in so many different ways, her skin tone, the color in her hair. Bravo Lea!

It looks like men will be taking flight this season. Just about all of the designers in Milan Men's Fashion Week had some type of flight/bomber jacket in their collections for this fall/winter 2010/2011 season. These flight jackets are definitely a stylish way to keep warm this season.

Animal prints (one of my personal favorites) are being spotted (no pun intended) on runways as well. When one article of clothing is your focus in your look it can be pulled off very well. You will see alot accessories with prints like booties, flats, scarves, gloves and bags.

Cropped pants have been a trend since the spring but they are a good transition piece that you can take into the fall season. I've seen them in all kinds of fabrics, khaki cargos, cords, twill, etc. They pair nicely with booties and even a strappy shoe while it's still kind of warm out like Leighton Meister is wearing above.

Fur accents have been seen on many runways for this fall. I'm not particularly a fan of wearing fur but depending on how it's worn it can look fab!

Plaids and utilitarian boots are definitely a hot ticket item for this fall. When worn together it gives off that "outdoorsy" look. Definitely a nice look for the fall season.

Halle Berry makes history by being the first black woman to make the cover of Vogue's September issue since Naomi Campbell in 1989. I'm looking forward to buying this issues. It's one of the more popular and will probably sell very fast. Check it out.

So it looks like Melanie Fiona and Trey Songz will be the new faces of Rocawear. With fall right around the corner many fashion designers and clothing lines are releasing what they will have for the fall season. Rocawear is known to use celebrities for majority of their campaigns. I think these two were a great decision they look great on camera. This photoshoot looks like it tells a story as well. Kanye West's New Movement

So if you haven't noticed already, Kanye has been seen suited up in almost all of the appearance's he's made on the gossip blogs, faceboook, outings, meetings etc. Upscale Hype gave us the scoop on the why Kanye is actually wearing these suits. Kanye calls it the "Rosewood Movement" which is closely related to the people of Rosewood during the Civil Rights era. I'm sure you seen some of his tweets, one in particular I noticed saying he had alot of "YSL suits" to try on for the night. Some say this is just a ploy to help promote the album but you really can't call it when it comes to him. Let me know what you think of Kanye's new look.

(and facebook too but we off that lol) Kanye has already gained about 200,000+ followers in the last 24 hours. Im excited to see what he's going to be saying. I'm sure he'll have plenty of material between his new album dropping in September and his love of fashion, art, etc, he should have plenty to say! I'm looking forward to it!! Follow him @kanyewest.

So I'm sure most of you have heard of Minx Nails, nail designs that were made popular by celebrities like Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Well I came across something similar in Sephora recently. OPI Chic Prints are like DYI Minx designs. They're very inexpensive, easy to apply and its definitely something different for all you nail polish lovers like myself. Over the weekend I went to Baltimore's 29th Annual Artscape, America's Largest Arts Festival. Artscape celebrates visual artists, fashion designers, musicans, dancers, etc. They usually have local performers and well known music artists headline each day. On Sunday I got a chance to see one of my favorite artists WALE perform. It was definitely a great turnout. See pics below.

Here are two suggestions for the fellas...Must haves for summer!

Try buying basic v-necks in different colors for those extra hot days. They're simple and stylish and can be paired with a cargo short, or any denim and some cool kicks of course.

Can't forget about the shades...here's a few styles I like.

Those Summer Nights

Here's a few tips of what to wear on these hot summer nights.

Sequins are always great if you want to be a bit glamourous on those nights out. Even just one piece with sequins, like a clutch, can dress up any look versus wearing an all sequin dress.

Whites jeans, one of my personal favorites, are very elegant, a great piece to use in your outfit for times when you need to go from day to evening. White linen pants will also do the trick. Both items pair nicely with a flowy tank top and/or bold patterns.

Maxi dresses are simple and comfortable and look great on all body types. This would be great for just a night walking downtown or even if you're going an a date.

Playing with bright colors is always great, espeically with dresses. Turquoise(my favorite color) is a popular choice for the season.

Over the weekend I had a chance to go to a tea party hosted by the Baltimore Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. It was very nice, the decor was beautiful and everyone looked so nice in their hats. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a hat to wear to the Tea but its okay, I still really enjoyed myself. Telephone Video Premiere

The video for Telephone by Lady Gaga ft Beyonce was premiered yesterday. I always look forward to Lady Gaga's videos because the styling is always so creative. Notice in the second photo the sunglasses are made of cigarettes. She's awesome. However, I was not very pleased with the actual music video itself, I think it had too many pauses and too much dialogue. I love the song though, you will definitely catch me dancing to it! All of the nice weather we have been having lately inspired today's post. Here are a few trends the ladies should keep an eye out for this spring. Fellas stay tuned for your trends on this week's Fresh Friday with Reality the Don.

Classic Stripes have been revived this spring. A French staple, and one of my personal favorites. One person who you see wearing this trend often is Gwen Stefani. try stores such as Gap and H&M

One of my favorite things to do is steal looks from a male wardrobe, you will be seeing a lot men's style, trouser suits popping up. The trousers look nicely by themselves as well, with a nice blouse or button down. try places like Urban Outfitters.

Beige is the new Black! Lots of neutral colors will be back this spring. beige, camel, tan, white or cream have been spotted all over the Paris Fashion Week runways, shoes included. If you're looking for neutrals to add to your wardrobe try a pair of khaki shorts or sleek white pants. Also look for nude pumps or sandals. Urban Outfitters has a variety of classic staples in khaki and Aldo shoes has plenty of nude sandals and pumps

Turquoise (my favorite color) is another fun color that you will see in spring, especially handbags. Try stores like Nordstrom.

Chris Breezy looks very cute. He's wearing a vintage denim shirt which is one of my favorite trends for this spring. (for ladies and gents) I also love the jacket and even the shoes. (He usually does it for me until I get to his feet) Good Job Chris!

Alexander McQueen Dies

Just days before the start of London Fashion Week Alexander McQueen is found dead. He was known for his very controversial and Gothic style clothing and making signature pieces for performers like Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Lately I am sure all of you have been hearing a lot of criticism of President Obama and how his first year went. People have been grading him based on which of America's problems he has fixed and what things he can do to improve. While seeing all of this I came up with an idea to focus on First Lady Michelle Obama's first year and look at the huge influence she has had on the fashion industry. Sean "Diddy" Combs is King in new Vogue Shoot

US Vogue teamed up with photographer Annie Leibovitz to celebrate the final album of Sean "Diddy" Combs, Last Train to Paris. Diddy was in an eight page spread along side model Natalia Vodianova. This shoot was pretty dope. The photographer played off of the album's title by shooting in various train stations on the East Coast. see the whole photo shoot and behind the scenes video here.
